Today's historians do not generally see him as the depraved and evil influence on the Tsar's family that his enemies at the time made him out to be. His advice to the Tsar and Tsarina is now seen as a mixture of sometimes conservative, sometimes very clear-headed advice. His influence on the health of the Tsar's son is - then as well as now - generally seen as positive. With all that said, the problem about viewing Rasputin, and what is myth vs facts about him, remain much of a mystery. As example, his seemingly immunity to attempts to kill him seem a bit "supernatural." Caution seems to be the best advice concerning Rasputin's place in history.
