a quick release know is one that if you tie your horse up , if he/she gets freaked out and start to panic, they cant pull the know loose (its impossible) but if you grab the other end, you can pull it loose almost immediate, with out actually untying anything. its a split second knot! as for how to make one, go on google and google images
The Gordian Knot? Believe it or not, it has to do with Alexander the Great. It was a legendary puzzle sent down by the gods, a knot intricate that whoever untied it would becomes "Lord of Asia" In Maniac Magee, there is a similar puzzle called the Cobble's Knot. As with Alexander, the protagonist of the book successfully unties it, and later unites a divided city.
For a while before untying the knot, Maniac (Jeffrey) examined it (touched,weighed, and looked at it). Then he began scraping off the mold and crust that had formed over the first year of the knot's life, by weathering. He did this in order to cleary see the indivudual strands of the knot. ( I am a 6th grader with a year-round 4.0 G.P.A. , a love for reading, great understanding in all aspects of life, good at comprehending symbolic (and non-symbolic things), recently reading Maniac Maggee with a class, and are currently stopped at chapter 33. )
