Nelson Mandela is considered as one of the most charismatic and influential leaders of Africa. He changed SA by standing against apartheid and ensuring that all people in the country enjoy equal opportunities and dignity.
Mandela only served one year he refused the second time. Eventually they won the battle to stop discrimination for the blacks, so i guess that he refused the second time because he didnt want to. Also in jail he spreaded the messegaes of discrimination.
The three characteristics of Nelson Mandela were that he was brave, a man of his word and an anti-apartheid. The three characteristics of Nelson Mandela were that he was brave, a man of his word and an anti-apartheid.

Mandela: Lessons of Leadership Courage In 1994, during the presidential-election campaign, Mandela got on a propeller plane to fly down to the killing fields of Natal and give a speech to his Zulu supporters. Nelson believed in consensus. He used a general feeling to empower the people and motivate them. He was in jail for 20+ years and was released by the president of south africa. When he was released he ran for president and created the first democratic government of south africa. His primary goal was to eliminate the apartheid in south africa. He was tolerant and persistent. Nelson Mandela Quote: "When you want to get a herd to move in a certain direction you stand at the back with a stick. Then a few of the more energetic cattle move to the front and the rest of the cattle follow. You are really guiding them from behind. That is how a leader should do his work"
He wanted independence for South Africa because he felt it was unfair that black people were being treated badly and differently to whites. So he wanted to change South Africa so that black and white people would all have the same rights as each other.
Nelson Mandela was arrested 5 August 1962 and released from prison 2 February 1990. Pro-apartheid South African president, P.W. Botha, had a stroke in 1989 and Botha's replacement, Frederik Willem de Klerk, freed Mandela. Botha had once offered Nelson Mandela release from jail in 1985, but only on the condition that Mandela would stop the armed conflict. Nelson Mandela chose to stay in prison as he believed it was the right thing to do in order to put an end to apartheid.
because he didn't want to be arrested
he didn't want to sabotage anything he wanted good for his country
didn't want to show his legs.
