The Bible as we have it today was not available to Matthew. He himself wrote at least one of the books, and it was much later when all of the books written by all of the authors were brought together. We are not even sure if the books that go to make up the bible which we have today are in their right order.

Saint Matthew is the patron saint of tax collectors. He was a tax collector before he became one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. Matthew's gospel in the Bible is attributed to him.
There is no record or historical evidence to confirm whether Saint Matthew had any children. The Bible does not mention any descendants of Saint Matthew.
Using Matthew, Mark, Luke and John is just a short- hand method and it is usual to drop the title of saint. No disrespect is meant by this as it is generally understood by everyone that these men were saints.
