I don't think it's accurate that people hate her. In fact, she has many loyal fans who miss her and who think her death was tragic. But in any form of popular culture (movies, music, TV, etc), there are people who are popular and people everyone loves to hate. Whitney Houston was generally not someone who received a lot of hate, but she did have some critics who believed she was over-rated, and others who felt she had wasted her life because of her addictions.
