Nick Wheeler was already in a band called Drowning Fish when he met Tyson Ritter. Tyson joined the band and he and Nick formed a very strong friendship and decided to make their own band. Mike and Chris where both in another band who weren't doing brilliantly so left to join The All-American Rejects
