Why did the Aztecs do human sacrifices?

The reason that the Aztecs did human sacrafice was because they were giveing to the gods and being picked to be sacraficed was a huge honnor. Mostly women were picked to be sacraficed because they were very pure and clean.

They sacrificed at least twice a day : once in the morning hours to make the sun rise and another for thanks to the sun god for letting the sun rise.
