Best Answer
Jamestown

In 1607 Jamestown became the first English settlement in North America colonists built a fort near the Jamestown river in present day Virgina. Walls, called palisades, surrounded the fort on all three sides.

New excavations of the area will help historians learn more than Jamestown. Archeologists have uncovered parts of the fort walls, the east cannon bulwark, a building, and more than 150,000 objects dating from 1607 to 1610.
