Why did the IRA bring their bombing campaign to Britain in the 1970s?
There has been a long history (from Fenian times) through to the
present of the IRA bombing English targets. In the 1970's this was
done out of a sense of "one bomb in London is worth 100 in
Belfast". Also, according to "Armed Struggle:The History of the
IRA" by Richard English British negotiators had said during secret
negotiations with the IRA that a large bombing campaign would
persuade them to leave Northern Ireland.
