Japan believed that the European powers were too involved in their own war to be able to respond to her aggression in the Far East. One reason that jumps out is the oil embargo the US put on Japan. Japan was engaged in war with China, which the US looked upon unfavorably.
Japan decided to expand World War 2 when they decided to bomb Pearl Harbor. When Japan did this America got very angry and got involved in the war that they had not planned to enter. America had Actually said that they were not going to get involved in the World War, but Japan changed that.
Oh, ho! Almost got us that time! But Japan was never invaded. Japan surrendered within days of the dropping of the second atomic bomb (on Nagasaki). The surrender was accepted by General Douglas MacArthur, and made the invasion of the Japanese homeland unnecessary.
They declared war because the USA cut off the supplies they needed. It was then that they decided that they wanted the Pacific ocean under their control so they could have their own resources available. The only problem was the USA standing in their way. So Japan went with a surprise attack in hopes of taking us down in one blow(Pearl Harbor), but failed because the carrier ships were out for training, so we were able to quickly recover.
they didnt, we declared war on them for attacking us. they "provoked" us to declare war, though we provoked them first by taking away their oil
The US did not declare war on Germany. Germany declared war on the US, on December 11, 1941. This was four days after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, and three days after the US declared war on Japan. Shortly after, Italy also declared war on the US. The procedure is the president asks Congress for a Declaration of War, and Congress then votes on the question.
The President asked congress to declare war on Japan, congress agreed.
I believe it was December 8, 1941, the day after pearl harbor was attacked by the Japanese.....
The United States was bombed by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor which cause a declaration of war but Germany had an alliance with Japan and it had forced the United States to declare war on Germany too. Then Germany had an alliance with Italy which cause the United States to declare war on yet another country. Then the world was at war and therefore World War 2 started.
The US did not declare war on Germany. Germany declared war on the US shortly after the Japanese attack on Hawaii.

If you mean in WWII then this is what I have got. Germany did not actually declare war on the Americans. When the Japanese bombed Perl Harbour in America the Americans wanted to declare war on the Japanese but the British persuaded the Americans that it was the Germans that started it and so the Americans declared war on the Germans and any other army with them including the Japanese on 11th December 1941. Hope that helps! =)
The Japanese bombing the U.S fleet at Pearl Harbour, Hawaii on the 7th December 1941 is what ultimatley caused the U.S to declare war during world war 2.

Technically the US was helping with the war in Europe but they did not declare war on Germany and Japan until after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December 7th, 1941.
The year was 1941, and the reason was in response to the Japanese attack on the US Fleet at Pearl Harbor the day before.
No, and the US did not declare war on Finland. However, UK declared war on Finland on 6 December 1941.
For the United States, only the US Congress has the power to declare war. That's explicit in the US consitution.
The American leaders banned the sale of oil to Japan to slow down a japanese war machine and this was a serious threat to future plans for the Japanese
