Two new inventions came in. The telegraph and the train.
It had two new invention ,the telegraph and the train.
the transcontinental telegraph line
Only last a year
there was not a single pony on the pony express only horses.
It was only in business for 18 months.
The invention and creation of the telegraph made a faster and cheaper method to send information across the nation, The Pony Express ended because of an advance in technology.
Most of the Pony Express horses far outlived the Pony Express. Although most of us know or have at least heard of the Pony Express it only lasted a year. Hollywood may have played a part in making it seem bigger than it really was. The horses that were used were in a lot of cases the rider's person mounts. What belonged to the US government were absorbed into other federal jobs that were in need of horses. (most likely the military)

The Pony Express began on April 3, 1860 from St. Joe, MO, and shut down just 18 months later. It consisted of a string of some 190 relay or stock stations between St. Joe, Missouri, and California. 80 young men, many orphans, and 500 horses made up the Pony Express. The Express made 308 transcontinental runs covering 606,000 miles and carried almost 35,000 pieces of mail. In its 18 months of existence, only one mail pouch was lost!!

What the gold rush created was a need for faster communication between California Territory and the United States in the east. The Federal Government responded to this need by having the Post Office request private Stagecoach and Freight companies submit proposals for a Fast Mail Stagecoach system contract. One of these companies, the Leavenworth and Pike's Peak Express Company (later renamed to the Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company), decided that to promote their proposal they would at their own expense setup and operate the Pony Express. They had no intention of operating it after the Post Office actually made a final decision on which company to give the Mail Stagecoach contract to. They actually shut the Pony Express down early, after only 18 months of operation, when the Transcontinental Telegraph line was completed making the Pony Express obsolete.Unfortunately the Post Office contract was instead awarded to Jeremy Dehut, who had taken over the southern Congressionally favored Butterfield Overland Mail Stage Line. This resulted in very serious financial losses to the owners of the company that had operated the Pony Express, expecting that by so doing they would win and quickly makeup the money lost on the Pony Express operation.
you only take the pony with you to rallies and meetings but otherwise your pony stays at your livery yard or house or wherever you keep your horse, the only time your pony will stay at adifferent yard is if you attend camp i hope this helps and have fun with your pony!!!!!!
