Chinese General Guo and Obama recently declaring the Korean War as a "victory." Both have their reasons, as the Chinese view it was a victory because they were able to successfully repel the "Imperialist aggression" led by US troops. As for the Americans, view it as a victory because their main objective was forcing back the Northern aggressors. and helped create a prosperous country (S. Korea) while (N.Korea) is a dump... Both sides view it as a "victory" of the Korean War, however it is rather a loss for the Koreans, who wanted a united country...
It prevented South Korea from being annexed by North Korea.

US/UN victory. Communists were stopped at the 38th parallel and the Republic of South Korea (ROK) was preserved.
The Korean government paid off the USA to stop the war so therefore the Koreans get to take credit of winning it and the USA gets to take the money and lose.
Russia Alternative: Which war? WWII was over in 1945. The Korean war had just started in 1950.
The Korean War was a United Nations force supporting South Korea against a North Korean-Chinese invasion. The Vietnam War was a US-led coalition supporting South Vietnam against a North Vietnam invasion supported by China and Russia.

See Korean War Facts or Korean War Educator.
yes, US forces participated in the korean war from 1950 to 1953
The US entered the Korean war in order to protect South Korea
The Korean War was practically a conventional WWII fight from day one, then it transitioned into a WWI fight...equipped with stale-mated trenches and the whole works...ultimately even ending like WWI did; with an armistice. WWI, WWII, and the Korean War (for the US) even lasted about same times: 3 years (one year for the US during WWI). Vietnam grew like a cancer and lasted 5 times longer than the Korean War...AND unlike the Korean War...Vietnam was a communist victory!
For the US, Vietnam.
