In circa 722-718 BC, the Northern Kingdom of Israel was captured by the Assyrians and dispersed into the northern lands. The lost their identity and became many other peoples. Some are definetly Christians today as there are 2.1 billion people who claim Christianity. Only the Jews (included many of the tribe of Benjamin, Levi, and some of Simeon) lived in the land when Jesus walked the earth and became followers of the Way - Christians by choice and belief.
