Fortunato was insulted by the guy that he entombed in the crypt because he had insulted him. It has been a long time since I've read it but he insulted him in a way that led to the main character being ridiculed. So he wanted revenge.
The murder in "The Cask of Amontillado" by Edgar Allan Poe took place because of the perceived insult and disrespect towards the narrator, Montresor, by Fortunato. Montresor seeks revenge on Fortunato and uses his pride in his knowledge of wine to lure him into the catacombs with the promise of a rare wine, the Amontillado.
A black silk mask and a cloak are used to disguise narrator. He does this so he can lure Fortunato away from the party.
In "The Cask of Amontillado," the murder takes place when Montresor leads Fortunato deep into his family's catacombs under the guise of sampling a rare wine, Amontillado. Once they reach the innermost part of the catacombs, Montresor chains Fortunato to a wall and walls him in with bricks, ensuring his death.
The murder in "The Cask of Amontillado" by Edgar Allan Poe takes place in the catacombs beneath Montresor's palazzo during Carnival season in Italy.
Both the movie and book versions of "The Cask of Amontillado" by Edgar Allan Poe involve the central themes of revenge and betrayal. However, the movie may add visual elements and interpretations that differ from the original text. The movie might also take creative liberties in adapting the story to suit the medium of film, potentially altering certain aspects of the narrative or characters.
The imprisonment of Fortunato took place 50 years ago.
The narrator never says the year in which the story takes place. One possibility is that it occurred in 1796, because the reader may assume that Montresor is speaking as of the date of publication of the story in 1846 about an event that occurred 50 years before that. There are no facts in the story either supporting or not supporting this possibility.

Probably not, although one writer, Mabbot, speculates that it does. He believes the name Montresor is French and that the extensive cellar under Montresor's house is similar to the catacombs of France. It is more likely that it occurs in Italy, because the names of both Fortunato and Luchesi are Italian and at one point, Montresor refers to his home as a "palazzo", an Italian word. Montresor refers to the fact that few Italians have the true virtuoso spirit when it comes to wines and that he himself buys many of the Italian vintages. Italy also holds various carnivals in different towns prior to Lent.
The police will catch montresor after killing fortunato and start investigating with him. POLICE:why did you put fortunato in the cabinet?! MONTRESOR:I didnt mean to kill him,I just wanted to take my revenge. Then montresor didnt find any excuse then he went to jail!
