When the RMS Titanic hit the iceberg, there was probably more icebergs floating around nearby. As the RMS Titanic sank, I would believe that more and more wreckage would float around the ship. Things that didn't go down with the ship, (or sank by itself), would also be drifting around. This could be wooden pieces, luggage, clothes and possibly other personal belongings that was had the ability to stay afloat. In addition, there was 20 lifeboats in the water at the time the RMS Titanic sank. It was, sadly, also a lot of people (with or without life vests) floating around in the icy water.
It sunk on its maiden (or first) voyage. The Titanic sank on its first trip across the Atlantic.
