The wooly mammoth was a late pleiocene/late pleistocene mammal associated with the major glacial periods. Because of adaptation to an environment with lower sea levels, colder weather, and more planes areas, The mammoth was able to sustain itself in the higher lattitudes. because the glacial period subsided quicker than the mammoth could migrate, they went extinct. they were unable to move to areas that could sustain their diets
