Walt Disney created Mickey Mouse (Born, November 18, 1928) simply as a replacement cartoon character for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Originally, Walt Disney was going to name him Mortimer Mouse, but his wife Lillian convinced him to change it. This was to be the first real animated presentation of it's type. The mouse was first seen on the silver screen in 'Steamboat Willy', released on November 18th, 1928.
