Why did they kill Freddy Krueger?

Freddy Kruger was a child murderer who had gotten off on a technicality ("somebody forgot to sign a search warrant in the right place" as Nancy's mom says in the original Nightmare on Elm Street). So a mob of angry parents burned him alive in his boiler room hideout, out of revenge, and (ironically) also to keep him from killing any more kids.

depends on which movie you are asking about..in the original one it was for the fact he killed children and the courts let him off over a unsigned search warrant in the new one cus he was a child molester which he was going to be in the first version but wes craven changed it for the fear of exploiting a child molestation case going on at the time

Freddy Krueger was teased as a child for being the son of 100 maniacs. He was also adopted by an alcholic step father who beat him endlessly bringing out the sociopathic tendencies in Freddy. He began torturing small animals and then one day after having had enough killed his father. When no consequences happened he just kept killing.
