The Germans wanted air superiority or supremacy so they developed the jet airplane. When Allied Air Forces did encounter those few jets that flew in the sky against them they were startled. They did manage to shoot down some of the jets. The Germans surrendered before the jets could do more damage against the Allied Air Forces or ground forces. The three big allied powers scrambled to get their hands on the jets. They all learned how to build these jets.
