What are citations in writing?
Citations in writing basically give credit to a source you used in your writing. Any content which you did not come up with on your own should have a citation associated with it. Citations also help readers to do more research on the content and validity of a source that is used in writing if they so desire.
Asked in Where the Red Fern Grows
Why was Where the Red Fern Grows Wilson Rawls first novel?
Wilson Rawls was home-schooled and had a very poor education, therefore his spelling and grammar was terrible. But he loved to write. No one would publish his books due to the terrible spelling. He tore them all up before he got married, because he didn't want his new wife to see all his mistakes. Later he told his wife about his love of writing, and she encouraged him to re-write Where the Red Fern Grows. He did, and she helped him correct the spelling and grammar. It was published in 1961.

Asked in Cable Television
When and where did cable television originated?
Beaver, UT - Cable Television actually is recognized as starting in Pennsylvania in the late 1940's by a television repair person by the name of John Walson. Mr. Walson and his wife Margaret, ran a small company called Service Electric Co. during this time. They sold, and repaired TVs and other home appliances in the city of Mahanoy, or Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania, and surrounding areas. The terrain in the area is very mountainous, and television reception is bad area. Some of Mr. Walson's customers complained about poor reception because the signals were being blocked by the mountains. Mr. Walson erected a large pole with an antenna on it and strung antenna wire on the ground (for the most part) and hooked up people he knew. History was born.
