He probably wasn't able to
They didn't like Lincoln because he was against slavery and wanted to abolish it. They also didnt like Lincoln because he issued the Emancipation Proclamation setting the slaves in rebellious southern states free. Hoped this helped! <3
Abraham Lincoln, he didnt want to end it, but then again he just didnt want it to spread any further west than it had, for the fact that colonists did not want there agriculture and industry to soley depend upon slave labor.
Lincoln didn't expect it to end the war, though he was hoping that some of the Southern states would abolish slavery in response to it. The main object was to keep Britain and France from aiding the Confederates, for fear of looking pro-slavery themselves.
because it was a threat to their industries. The competition for slaves in the west would damage the sectional balance between the Northern and Southern territories of the united states. they didnt want to abolish slavery where it was, they just didnt want it to spread.
slavery and the states seceding. lincoln wanted the country to stay united but the south didnt and thats what started the whole thing then lincoln brought slavery into it and ended up ending slavery
He promoted and helped to assure the passage (though its final application happened after his assassination) of the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution which made slavery illegal.
no Lincoln was an abolitionist or a person who was against slavery. Linoln thought slavery was wrong and wanted it to end and he hadn't owned any slaves because he knew owning another person was wrong.
historians are fighting over this concept, so it is to be determined.
