Because they didn't believe in slavery strongly enough to want to break up the Union.

The northern states did want Missouri admitted to the union as a slave state so as to balance the free slave trade.
The south didnt have a king, but a president. Jefferson Davis was the president of the Confederate States of America.
The Ten Percent Plan was put forth by Abraham Lincoln as a model for the Reconstruction of the Southern states after the Civil War had ended. Basically the rule for reinstatement to the Union was that only 10% of the vote in 1860 swore allegiance to the United States and agreed to the emancipation of all slaves.
there isn't really a name for them, they are like any state but they have slavery. you could call them southern slave states or slave states, or southern states...... there is no definition for slave states that didnt secede proir to the civil war

because they didnt want him to make slavery illegal !
The slave states remaining in the Union were mainly border states. The "border states" economy wasn't as dependant on slavery as were their southern cousins. One Southern congressman even stayed in congress during the war. Vice President Andrew Johnson was also a strong supporter of the South and paid for it after he became president.
they didnt
The Border States, or the Buffer States.
the south didnt have to defeat the union, just avoid losing
Georgia, tennesee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, Alabama , Texas they were all slave states, and didnt want to be part of the union
It depends on what you consider secession. North Carolina was the last state who's legislature approved an ordinance of secession (May 20, 1861). However, both Tennessee and Virginia submitted their articles of secession to the voters for approval, and these ratifications occurred later. Virginia voters approved secession on May 23, 1861, while Tennessee voters approved secession on June 8, 1861. So while Tennessee was the last state to "officially" secede, North Carolina was the last state to practically secede (as the voter ratifications were basically just a formality at that point).
The United States was afraid to start a war with the Soviet Union
The US officially split during the Civil War in 1861. The southern states did secede from the Union, being the United States. When a secession occurs there is a withdrawl from the original entity. Thus forming the Confederate States of America whose president was Jefferson Davis. The United States, of course, at the SAME time was run by President Abraham Lincoln.
