The Aborigines did not have the mans to defend themselves against European weaponry. Nor did they have any understanding that their way of life was going to change forever. Although some tribes were hostile, many were relatively peacable (within their own strict laws and customs), and they did not conceive of the possibility that everyone could share the country. By the time they understood the threat of the white man, it was too late.
