Because it wasn't as important as it is today for them to have an education because it was then wrongly assumed at the time that their future was of only of a feminine nature and that an education for girls would have been a waste of time and money.

Iif you mean Victorians as in the type from history then they went to school like we do now a days. But it obviously wasn't as well taught or supplied as in modern schools also it was less common for girls to attend because they were to stay home and sow or do housework as they were less important (which is ridiculous everyone is equal no matter what gender.)
