The Treaty of Versailles was signed following World War I. It had many provisions, including punishments for Germany. The US Congress did not ratify the Treaty because they were for isolationism, and felt that becoming part of the League of Nations, a provision of the treaty, would draw the US into further wars.

The U.S never ratified the Treaty of Versailles, President Wilson, although having assisted to compose the treaty, simply did not have enough political influence in U.S. congress. This resulted in the U.S. never signing the Treaty of Versailles and never joining the League of Nations, the U.S. did however, agree to a separate peace treaty with Germany in August 1921 named the Treaty of Berlin.

How did congress deal with the fourteen points peace treaty?

They didn't need to. They dealt with the Treaty of Versailles, if that's what you mean. About the Versailles Treaty (1919), they rejected it because of Article 10 which stated that they needed to join the League of Nations and that when the League went to war, all of the members had to go to war and Congress thought that was against the US constitution, "Only Congress can declare war." Hope that helped. Oh, and Congress just kind of hated Wilson. WWI was really unpopular, no one really knew why we (the United States) were fighting it and Congress was republican and Wilson was a democrat so they didn't get along too well.

Who withdrew support for France after World War 1?

One of the main objectives of both France and Britain in the aftermath of the First World War was to ensure a strong France by weakening Germany. Therefore the Treaty of Versailles had punishing economic and military sanctions against Germany. However, although US President Woodrow Wilson was a key figure in the negotiations leading to the Treaty, the US did not support the French position--it did not sign the Treaty of Versailles, or endorse its provisions. The US signed a separate treaty with Germany in 1921.
