Different things can raise the PH levels on your skin. Washing can lower PH so that means areas of skin like your face and hands will have a lower PH level than your torso or feet.

How adaptations help in increasing population of an organisms?

The earth receives lots of ultraviolet radiation, which is damaging to light skin. On the other hand, dark skin is less able to make use of this radiation for synthesising the vitamin D that the human body needs. Studies have shown that different sets of genes give rise to dark skin in various groups of people which suggests that, as we have populated new areas of the earth we have found it necessary to adapt again and again to higher levels of sunlight. If we had not adapted the high levels of radiation would have been lethal to many of us and population in these areas would not have grown.
