I imagine it would be for the same two reasons that it has increased everywhere it is possible and legal.

1. The greater the change in society, the greater the change in individuals' experiences. The greater the change in experience, the more people will grow in different directions; and the more likely they will seek pastures new.

2. The easier it is to divorce, the greater the responsibility of each partner to fulfil the needs, wishes, and aspirations of the other. Many (and most of them men) have neither the intent nor the ability to adjust themselves to another's needs.
