2 Stroke engines do not have an oil pan or oil reserve within the motor. The oil that is mixed in the gasoline is used to lubricate the moving parts withing the engine. So, the gasoline and oil mixture gets ignited in the cylinder and then works it way out the exhaust.
yamaha still makes the yz line of 2strokes. they are based on an older platform, but they are supposed to be one of the best handling bikes on the market. ktm has up to date technology and a cutting edge line of 2strokes with their SX line. they are great too. i ride a 125 SX and it works well. they also have 150, 250, and 300 cc 2strokes that are all very good. i would stick with yamaha or ktm. they are mainstream and very good. the other manufactures that make 2strokes arent up to par yet.
