Usally people who have been married gives red packet to people that haven't married. inside the red packet have money, it's about $5-$20. apparently it give you good luck. if you give red packet the person,you usally have to say something nice like :grow up quickly,learnig progress and be obedient to your dad ,mum and grandparents.

I really do not have an answer for this question. Red is a color that is widely used by the Chinese for happy occasions, such as during weddings and Chinese new year. Houses are decorated in red and money is wrapped in red packets when giving as gifts during this two occasions, even on birthdays. When it comes to funerals, the color red has to be hidden. With such practises and believes by the Chinese, I guess communists like the color red as a sign of prosperity, good fortune and bright future for their country. Who said all communists are Chinese? What about the ex-communist country Russia?
