a long time ago people "write" things by carving them on bamboo books, but it is seriously time consuimg, so someone took a piece of bamboo and attached fur to it, dipped in ink and write on paper, which is a lot quicker than before, ofcourse.

you can see it is made up of ⺮ and 毛
⺮ means 竹, which means bamboo
and 毛 means fur
you can tell easily that 笔 means bamboo and fur, which is brush
(actually it is not like a brush....)
