God also promises us many things like comfort, and that He will always provide for us. Jesus offers us these things and more when we decide to turn to Him, and live for Him. God promised that a Savior would be sent, not only to preach the word of God but to die for man's sins, so that they would have the opportunity to return to God. If they obeyed the word of God as preached by Christ, His atonement would not have been in vain.

Also, because God sent Prophets to the Jewish people for every generation, until the arrival of Jesus Christ the Messiah. Once the Messiah came, God did not send any more Prophets, as they were only 'forerunners' who prepared the way and predicted the coming of the Messiah. When Jesus came to Earth, there was no longer a need for any prophets, as the Law and the Prophets had been fulfilled by His Son (Matthew 5:17).
