I had the same question as I am now 6 months after a total knee and it is finally getting better. At three months I was facing returning to 12 hour shifts with a lot of pain that my ortho Md made me feel like a drug addict because I still had so much pain. The physical therapy department was the most help. Apparently while putting the knee in the nerves are severed and they start to reinnervate the tissue making a pathway again, while they are doing this it can be quite painful. You probably have one side of your knee and leg that is numb, this will get better over the next couple months -but there is some very sharp steady pain that shoot thru the kneecap and down into the leg. The therapist told me what that nerve was but I don't remember.
The only possible link here would be that after total knee replacement, you would spend a lot of time lying in bed. If you lie in the same position all the time, you would get "decubitus". This is basically a wound because the skin doesn't get enough blood. If you lie still for too long, your skin that's underneath doesn't get enough blood, and you'd get a wound. A wound is the 2nd stage, the 1 stage is just pain and redness. You can avoid this by moving, or at least shifting position every now and then. NB: if you are wondering why you don't get this when sleeping: even in your sleep, you move around (some more than others, but all enough to avoid these wounds from happening).
This is something you should ask your doctor.

No. THR in that context would stand for total hip replacement. TKR would be the acronym for total knee replacement.
Knee stiffness after a total knee replacement varies from patient to patient, along with recovery time. Stiffness commonly disappears after the initial inflammation from the surgery subsides. In some people, stiffness may last through all recovery and rehabilitation, possibly for months.
