Over 1,500 whales are hunted every year. Commercial whaling has been banned since 1986. But whaling continues under false pretenses now call "Scientific Research". This kills hundreds of whales every year. Even the fishing industry has caught nearly 1,000 whales in fishing nets.
1344 whales were killed in 2000. See the Related Links for more information.
Beluga whales are a protected species and are not hunted commercially. Native people in Alaska and Canada are allowed to hunt them, and kill from 1200 to about 1500 each year.

Yes, in Japan, people have large ships that are able to hold a whole whale. They catch whales and bring them up into their ship. Once the whales are in the ship, they kill them and take out all their organs and much more. After this process, the things they do not need from the whale, they throw back into the ocean. There are also more places where this happens such as, Iceland, Indonesia, and many more places in the world. Fortunately, the United States has banned it.
There were no deaths caused by the 2010 eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano.
Not all whales, but Killer Whales can, and have eaten Polar Bears. Polar Bears are one of the many animals that Killer Whales eat. See related links below for others.
