For All Muslim to pray to one direction, in united rows, they must have a specific place to face to, or a "Quibla", other nations also had things like this, old Christians and Jews also directed towards Orshalem before, so it isn't something odd.

This is an order from our Lord, it surely has a purpose, but we not necessarily need to know that purpose in order to follow our Lord's orders.

Interesting to know, that the Ka'abawas found to occupy the centre of land on earth, ie, if you drew lines from it to any edge of land on earth, the lines will be equal in length.
