Why was fluorescence invented?

It was not invented. It exists as a natural thing and has been known throughout all human history. Micro-organisms in water will give of phosphoresence and various glowing chemicals (mostly containing phosphorus) were known. Radium and other radioactive elements and compounds were also known but not understood. So... nobody invented it. Just like electricity, it has always been there as a part of the natural environment.

Why are there natural elements in the periodic table?

Originally according to western Oregon universities' site: "brief history of the periodic table" the creators wanted a way to track the elements. Originally it was just the elements found in nature. The man made elements came later and were added to the already widely used table. I don't have WOU'S site for reference but you can find it easily from google. Or just type in" brief history of periodic table" into you favorite search engine.

What are similarities or differences between the ancient Greek philosophers Leucippus and Democritus concept of the atom and Dalton's atomic theory?

The early philisophers (Leukippus and Democritus) 2500 years ago couldnt prove that atoms existed, and people had not discovered the study of matter yet. The idea of Greeks was genial but is only a philosophical suppostion, only that.Dalton combined the idea of elements with the earlier history of the atom, and the chemical and physical knowledge from 1800.
