If you suck your thumb will your breath stink?

If you engage in proper oral hygiene and don't have any underlying gum disease, sucking your thumb will not necessarily result in halitosis, the technical name for bad breath. Usually there are two reasons for halitosis: odor from the stomach, usually based on some form of indigestion, or odor from the tongue (or from food lodged between the teeth) caused by the chemical results of certain kinds of bacteria.

What is the white coating on the tongue Tried a tongue scraper but it doesnt work and also have bad breath and bad taste in the mouth Can this be due to constipation?

More likely, whatever is causing the halitosis and the white coating on your tongue is the same thing causing the constipation. Review your diet over the last week, including meds, and see if the answer lies therein.

Can bad breath be prevented?

While it may be that some "families" are more prone to have bad breath there is no scientific evidence that bad breath is genetic. According to the School of Dental Medicine in New York, 80 - 90 % of bad breath is caused by bacteria (Solobacterium morrei) that lives on the top of the tongue and produces compounds that contain sulfur. These researchers reported to cure chronic bad breath by having the people brush their teeth and clean their tongue twice a day. Mints, gum, and mouthwash are frequently used to control bad breath, however, these products only cover up bad breath for a very short time. Using these products is like trying to cure body odor with perffume. In order to control bad breath the cause of bad breath must be removed, thus, cleaning of the tongue is essential in order to eliminate bad breath. The type of tongue cleaner is very important. A tongue scraper does not clean the tongue. A toothbrush is designed to clean the teeth, not the tongue. The best tongue cleaner has a brush and a scraper so the bacteria that live in the deep indentations of the tongue will be removed. How do you hav bad breath?

Bad breath, or halitosis, can be caused by a variety of factors such as poor oral hygiene, certain foods, smoking, dry mouth, or underlying health conditions. To improve bad breath, it's important to maintain good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth, flossing, and using mouthwash regularly. If bad breath persists, it's best to consult a dentist to identify and address any underlying issues.

How might you be able to distinguish between a person who practices good oral hygiene and one who does not?

Many oral problems are caused by poor hygiene. Others result from poorly aligned teeth. Halitosis, or bad breath, can be caused by eating certain foods, poor oral hygiene, smoking, bacteria on the tongue, decayed teeth, or gum disease. So over all, the way you could tell if some one has poor oral hygiene is by the color of their teeth and their breath and some one that does not have poor hygiene, will not have yellow teeth and stinky breath and their tongue wont have a white layer of bacteria on it.

Why do people have tongue's and nose's?

Ramses the I (or the second, cant remember but i think the second) died from swallowing the drain from an infected tooth, so the things that you could get from not brushing range from bad breath to death. hard to be specific on that one. Can you get bad breath from your boyfriend?

Bad breath is not contageous. It is not a disease. It is a condition and it can be "cured". According to the School of Dental Medicine in New York, 80 to 90 % of bad breath is cause by a bacteria (Solobacterium moorei) that lives on the top of the tongue and produces foul smelling compounds, that is bad breath. To check for the bacteria you can stick out your tongue and look for a white substance on your tongue, especially in the back of your tongue. If you see white stuff you have an extreme case of bad breath. Another interesting fact about bad breath is that most people cannot smell their own bad breath. So, most people have some amount of bad breath. To cure bad breath you must remove the source of the bad breath, the bacteria. Mints, gum, mouthwash just cover up bad breath for a very short time. Using these products is like trying to control body odor with perfume. The type of tongue cleaner you use is very important. A tongue scraper does not clean the tongue. A toothbrush is designed to clean the teeth, not the tongue. Use a tongue cleaner that has both a brush and a scraper.
