This is a defense mechanism. Since bats escape by flying, sleeping upside down allows them to rapidly drop and fly away if danger approaches while they are sleeping. If they were to sleep either lying on a surface or sitting on a floor, they would be much more vulnerable to predator during their sleeping hours. When bats relax, the weight of their upper bodies pulls down on the tendons connected to the talons and they clench closed. The weight of the bats keeps their talons closed, and the talon joint locks them into position. This system is so effective that, if bats die while roosting, they will continue to hangupside-down until something (or someone) shakes them loose

up side down
Bats sleep hanging upside-down because it allows them to take off quickly if a predator approaches. This position also helps protect them from ground-dwelling predators. Hanging upside-down also helps bats conserve energy and maintain body temperature more efficiently.
Bats have a unique adaptation in their feet that allows them to hang upside-down while they sleep. Their tendons are set up in a way that when they relax, their toes automatically clench around a perch. This specialized foot structure allows them to rest securely while hanging upside-down.
Sheep typically sleep lying down, either on their side or curled up. They rest for short periods throughout the day and night, alternating between light sleep and deeper sleep. Sheep are known to be light sleepers, ready to wake up if they sense danger.

Kangaroos sleeping laying down on their back or on their side. These marsupials are native to the country of Australia.
rhinos sleep standing up or laying down and can sleep up to 8 hours a day intervals. They can be found dozing under a tree during a hot day, but when they take a deep sleep, they lie down with their feet curled up slightly to the one side. They sleep very deeply and can easily be approached.
Bats go out at night for getting food, such as insects-moths, bettles, or midges. But during the day, they sleep up-side down qith their wings tucked in (to keep them warm even though they are warm blooded mammals)
Laying down. They doze standing, but for a deep sleep, they lay down either on their side or with their feet tucked under them and their heads pulled in towards their rear.
