Why do boys have puberty?

Puberty is the name given to the period during which a boy changes into a man. Puberty is a natural period in the life of a boy. It is generally considered the "transition period" on his road to manhood. His body changes rapidly, and the process is one that will occur regardless of what name we give it. The main purpose of puberty, what is called its primary sexual characteristic, is for a boy's body to change so that he can produce sperm. Likeways for a girl the primary sexual characteristic is for her to change so that she can produce fertile eggs. All the other changes, such as growing pubic hair, need to shave, growing breasts or having your voice "break" are all called secondary sexual characteristics. From a purely biological viewpoint the entire point of puberty is so that boys and girls can change into men and woman who will eventually have sex and then have children of their own, and so continue the Human species. However this would never happen if boys and girls hated each other. So part of the process of puberty is to alter the way that boys and girls think. So instead of continuing to play marbles and going fishing with other boys all of a sudden a boy begins to get interested in the very same girls who he used to totally ignore before puberty. It is what used to be called "the sex drive," and, as I mentioned earlier, underlying it is the biological urge to breed and continue the species. Of course you could turn out to be gay, but if that is the case you won't develop an attraction to girls at all but you may suddenly find yourself thinking of other games that you'd like to play with some of the other boys, besides just marbles.
