Why do children need carbrohydrates?

Carbohydrates are one of three main nutrient groups (the other two being fat and protein). They are extremely important sources of energy, particularly sustaining energy that will help a child feel full and have enough energy to go from breakfast to lunch or lunch to supper without getting sleepy.
