Why do christians ignore parts of the Bible that they do not like?

They don't fit in with what they want to do.
For example, it says you cannot work on the sabbeth (Sunday), but many Christians work on Sundays. So, they just ignore that part of The Bible.
It's easy to pick and choose what you want out of a book of rules and laws.
