Jesus Christ was born there. The Bible says that Jesus (God's Son) became a man to be born of a virgin and eventually, die for the sins of the world. His birth took place in a stable, in Bethlehem. (See the first 4 books of the New Testament)

It's like wanting to see where the plot of your favorite non-fiction story played out.

Also, Christians don't go on "pilgrimages". Pilgrimages are a Muslim tradition. Muslims are required to take Pilgrimages throughout their lifetime. Christians take trips to biblically historical places by choice.
