The convex lenses are converging lens so when the curvature of the lens increases the focal length will decrease which helps when looking up close. A thin convex lens is for seeing things from a distant.

Do thick convex lenses have longer or shorter focal lengths than thin convex lenses?

As a thicker lens has more material to do bend the light further it it would have a shorter focal length

Do thick concave lenses have longer or shorter focal lengths than thin concave lenses?

It have a shorter focal length because there is more time for the light rays to come together

How do you find the power of lenses using focal lengths?

Power (F)= 1/focal length (f) focal length f, is measured in meters the power, F, is in dioptres (D) In converging or convex lenses the power is positive In diverging or concave lenses, the power is negative :)

What kind of lens has a focal point?

Convex lenses have a focal point.

What type of lenses are used when photographing people's faces from a distance?

You would ask for a telephoto lens in a shop. Scientifically they are convex lenses with longer focal lengths than a normal lens. A normal lens has a focal length between 21 and 35 mm, whereas the medium telephoto lenses used for portraiture have focal lengths between 70 and 135 mm.

What are the types of lenses?

There are two types of lenses - fixed focal and zoom lenses.

What are some ways using convex and concave lenses to form an image that is smaller than the object?

For forming a smaller image than the object using convex and concave lenses, you can place the object closer to the convex lens than its focal length, then position a concave lens closer to the convex lens than the sum of their focal lengths. This arrangement will produce a smaller inverted image. Adjustments can be made by changing the distances between the lenses to fine-tune the size and position of the image.

An object seen close up through a convex lens looks than it really is?

A convex lens is a mirror whose middle is larger than the top and bottom. A convex lens is more than two focal lengths. It is smaller and inverted between one and two focal lengths.

What lens has an object more than two focal lengths from the lens that will have an inverted message?

it is convex lens ;)

If Jane is myopic. Will she need concave or convex lenses explain?

Concave. With myopia, the focal point of the eye is in front of the retina. Concave lenses increase the distance of the focal point so that it lies on the surface of the retina.

Lenses are engineered to have specific focal lengths Besides the curvature of the two sides of a lens what determines the focal length?

The material that the lens is made from.

What is the difference between shorter and longer focal lengths?
