I have worked on many Jeep Cherokee vehicles. There are three wire harnesses each with a ground wire eyelet grounded at the oil dipstick bracket. these will tear away because the engine flexes while in rough terrain pulling the harnesses away from their ground, usually just pulling the ground wires enough to damage them internally, so I always make three new ground wires for these harnesses and make them extra 6" inches longer for stress reduction of the harness, then I repair the device like the odometer for instance if it needs. Also I periodically remove the neutral safety switch and service it, open it and clean with electrical cleaner, and restore functions with dielectric grease, this switch is very expensive, but can easily maintained, just be careful that the contacts have tension
springs under them.
