If some of the water splashes out, then the volume that you measure will be inaccurate, in that it will appear to be less than it actually is. This will cause the calculated density to be inaccurate, in that it will appear to be greater than it actually is.

Density is a measure of how much what is in a substance?

False. Density is the measure of the amount of mass an object has

Does ice turn into another substance when it freezes?

nope its the same as water just freezed tell me if im wrong thx

True or false Density is a measure of how much heat there is in a volume of substance?

Density is a measure of the ratio between mass and volume displaced (d = m/V). Density IS inversely related to temperature, though not significantly. As a substance gains energy in the form of heat, it expands. It doesn't gain any mass, but it does increase in volume. So, as temperature rises, density does decrease slightly. The answer is true, but you need to take mass into account. You'd be wrong if you wrote d = temp/V

What is a substance that dirties the air water or ground thereby harming the living organisms called?

There are many such substances. Collectively this is known as pollution. Any substance can be a pollutant in the wrong place.

How many lbs in 7 liters of water?

1 kg.The weight of one liter of distilled water is 1 kg at 4 °C. If the temperature is different than that, the weight will change slightly because the density of water is temperature dependent. See the weblinks to the left of this answer for webpage with a handy automatic calculator. Enter the temperature and also the salinity if you want and it will give you the density in kg/m3 (1000 liters = 1 m3).* * * * *The above is scientifically wrong. A kilogram is a measure of mass, not of weight. A litre of water weighs approx 9.8 Newtons on the surface of the earth. In outer space it will weigh nothing.

How do you find volume mass and density?

When you have a piece of a substance, its mass and volume have to be measured. After you've done that, you can calculate the density ... it's (mass) divided by (volume). It doesn't matter whether the sample you have is large or small. The densitywill be the same.

What is denser sand or water?

Usually soil is more dense than water. Density is the weight of a substance per unit volume. The weight of one milliliter (1 cubic centimeter) of water is 1 gram, so it's density is 1 gram/cc. Common bulk densities for soil range from about 1.2 g/cc to 1.8 g/cc. Bulk density is the density of the soil, including both the soil particle and the pore space between the particles. Particle density for mineral soils (the density of a single particle of a grain of sand, for example) is generally about 2.6 g/cc

A base is a substance that forms hydroxide ions in a water solution.?

A substance that forms hydroxide ions in a water solutoin is a base -- TRUE -- apex:)

Why does warm water rise and cold water sink?

Actually you are wrong, its vise versa, hot water rises and cold water sinks. This is because when water molecules gain energy, they become hot. Molecules try to move away from one another. And this leads to reduction in density. Since density of water reduces as it becomes hot, how water moves up and cold water sinks down.

Which will roll faster down an inclined plane a can of water or a can of ice?

I think it would be ice in can. Coz it has low density and may have less friction as compared to water. Great and briallant question but i fear that my answer is wrong...

What is used to identify the purity of a substance?

The purity of any substance can be checked through Melting Point,Boiling Point or Chromatography. As A pure substance has a set and exact melting point and boiling point and a pure substance shows only one spot on the chromatogram.
