They have fleas because of there fur.They eat the dogs skin and they sometimes lives the dog and go into your carpet and on you.They might go in the the ear because there's more blood and they have a reason to bite them selves.

Im pretty sure its because the dog can't get too them as easy.

Dogs are the host, and the flea likes the deep down dirt in their fur. They like it cause its dark and dry (most of the time).
