It is not necessarily a bad thing although many dog owners find it to be socially unacceptable and annoying. It is not typically hurting anything or anyone. This behavior can often be curbed by spaying or neutering the dog.
dog hump for 2 reasons....
-they are sexually excited
-they want dominance
It is a form of dominance. Spaying or neutering will lower the chances of this occurring again.
that means the humper is the master

the diffrence between young dogs and old dogs is that young dogs will hump your legs more and old dogs want YOU to hump them!! beware when you get a dog

Is it just dogs who do that? My 14 year old son seems to do it too.
Yes it can. It has to do with the hormonal balances which do not go away after the pet has been fixed. also dogs hump other dogs to show authority over other dogs or in some cases humans
cuz they need the feeling of love!
Cats have a special mating ritual, where they entice the males. Dogs just do it whenever.
