Dogs "hump" for the same reason that human males would if they could get away with it! It feels good. Male dogs rub their penis against things because they like the way it feels. Of course, if there is a female dog in heat who will agree to have sex with them, they prefer that.

∙ 9y agoDogs are social animals who need to find their place in the pack be it humans or dogs. Children are often treated similar to the dog and are below the adults in the pack structure. A dog will pick up on this and often hump small children to assert their dominance over them. This behavior should be strongly discourage and the dog should never be allow to believe its dominant over the humans in its pack/family.
