Dogs and canines are naturally scavengers. In the wild they would scavenge for dead animals and corpses left by other predators.
Scavenging is easier than hunting. Although most canines are powerful and are bred for hunting, they are not actually the best hunters in the animal kingdom.
You can feed your dog cooked chickpeas if you wish. Some dogs like them, others do not. However, beware when feeding your dog leftovers from your plate. For example, garlic and onions are toxic to dogs, so if your meal contained either of those, you should never feed your dog the leftovers.
