DSLR cameras usually come with a small amount of built-in memory - usually as a space saving mechanism. Memory chips can be quite bulky. A memory card increases the number of photos you can take without having to download them to computer.

My own Fujifilm S2750 camera came with approximately 23MB of internal memory. A ONE GB SD card gives me approximately 630 shots !

Why can't a Nikon camera use this memory card?

A Nikon camera may not be able to use a specific memory card if the card is not compatible with the camera's memory card slot. Different cameras require specific types of memory cards, such as SD, CF, or XQD cards, and using an incompatible card can result in errors or the card not being recognized by the camera.

How can I transfer pictures from my DSLR camera to my computer?

To transfer pictures from your DSLR camera to your computer, you can use a USB cable to connect the camera to the computer. Once connected, you can access the camera's storage and copy the pictures to your computer's hard drive. Alternatively, you can remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into a card reader connected to your computer to transfer the pictures.

Is there a software that you can plug your dslr to and will stream images on to the PC as you take them?

No - because the camera needs to process the image first, saving it to either internal memory or a flash-card. The only alternative would be to set the DSLR up as a web-cam, then save specific images after you review the footage.

When i was taking pictures on my dslr with a sandisk 16gb sd card it only let me take a couple before it said memory full what can you do?

Thats odd- 16gb is plenty of room for all low and most higher end DSLR camera even shooting 'RAW' photos (no compression). For example, with a Canon 5D mrkII (over 20mp camera) I can take 400+ photos with highest quality settings before the card is full. Try importing all photos from the memory card onto your computer and then re format the 16gb card via your camera, this might solve the problem. If that doesn't work bring the card back where your brought it and exchange the card.
