Farmers use fertilizer because they need it for their crops to grow very big and be sold for more and more easily.

It is also because as you use the same land repeatedly for farming the essential nutrients from the soil drops. So to enhance the nutrients in the soil for the plants or crops to grow faster the farmers add the required fertilizers to the soil. Care should be taken in not using excessive fertilizer which might damage the crops.
